The murder of Rhys Milford Jones who was Born 27th September 1995, occurred on 22 August 2007 in
Liverpool, England, when he was shot, believed at the time to be in his neck.

Rhys was the son of Stephen and Melanie Jones and younger Brother of Owen, who was born in 1990.

Rhys, who would have turned 12 a month after his death, had just left Broad Square Primary School on
the Norris Green housing estate, and was due to start secondary school at Fazakerley High School in
September 2007.

Rhys Jones was known to be a boy who was eager to learn everything and anything.
His headteacher and neighbours said that Rhys was a friendly, popular boy, and mad about football.

Rhys, who played for The Fir Tree Boys football club, was on his way home from football practice
with two friends. As he was crossing the Fir Tree pub car park, on Fir Tree Drive South in the
Croxteth Park estate, Liverpool, a hooded youth riding a silver mountain bike approached. He then
held out a handgun at arm's length firing three shots. It was originally believed that one of the
shots hit Rhys in the neck.

However, during the trial the pathologist revealed the bullet had entered his back "slightly above
the left shoulder blade" and that it had then "exited from the front right side of his neck". The
shooting occurred in daylight at 7.30 pm BST.

Rhys's mother rushed to the scene when she heard what had happened.By the time his mother had
reached him, Rhys was unconscious. Paramedics tried for one and a half hours to resuscitate him, but
he was pronounced dead some time later in Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

Watch over your mum, dad and Owen little man it's just not fair what happened to you and it won't seem real to your family and friends. When you lose someone you love so much it seems like its all happening to someone else and your on the outside it takes a while to sink in, be there for them when it does Rhys thats the hardest part. They will know their angel with the blue wings is with them comforting them.

a tragedy
poor Rhys did not deserve this, his poor parents did not deserve this and neither did Britain.. the system will let little Rhys down when his killers are caught, Rhys was a small child and no threat to any gangs or whatever.. this tragedy should be the last of its kind because when this poor lads killer is caught he should be hung until hes dead, even under the age of 16, lets get a message across to these people now.. to Rhys jones's family im sorry for your loss and i pray you get justice for your boy, RHYS Rest In Piece

how sad to here of your passing.i wish that they would bring the troops home to sort out our own crap country,i say this with a sad heart because i love my country,or at least the one i remember.rhys you are no more, because you had no oil worth fighting for.the politicians are not crying because they are to busy sorting out other countries problems whilst pretending we have none here,r.i.p.
